Living in Overland Park

Overland Park is the second biggest city in Kansas, and there's a reason so many people love calling it home. Shopping, restaurants, parks, and trails are all right around the corner.

What I like most is how different each part of town feels. The north side has established neighborhoods with mature trees and plenty of character, close to downtown OP. The south side is newer, with more modern homes and lots of shopping and dining.

Whether you want to be close to the action or have more room to spread out, there's a good chance you'll find your fit here.

What people love here

  • Downtown Overland Park and the Farmers' Market: walkable blocks of local shops, restaurants, and coffee, plus one of the area's best known farmers markets
  • Deanna Rose Children's Farmstead: a longtime KC favorite for feeding baby goats and spending a day outside
  • Overland Park Arboretum and Botanical Gardens: gardens, walking trails, and the holiday Luminary Walk
  • Prairiefire: shopping, restaurants, movies, and a museum all in one spot
  • Oak Park Mall: one of the best known indoor malls in the metro

Getting around

Highway 69, Interstate 435, and Interstate 35 make it easy to get around Johnson County and into Kansas City, Missouri.

Schools

Overland Park is mostly split between the Blue Valley and Shawnee Mission school districts, roughly south and north. The line can be very specific, so check the address on any home you like.
