Living in Grain Valley
Grain Valley is family territory for me. My brother and his family live here, and my niece is in the Grain Valley High School marching band, so I spend plenty of time in town.
It still feels like a small town even though it keeps growing. A lot of the homes are newer, and you're right on Interstate 70 when you need to get somewhere. Like the rest of eastern Jackson County, you usually get more house for the money, and property taxes often run lower than parts of Kansas.
If you want newer homes and a close knit community, Grain Valley is a great fit.
What people love here
- Armstrong Park: playgrounds, a skate park, ballfields, and picnic areas right in the heart of town
- Butterfly Trail: a paved trail around a lake for walking, running, and biking
- Monkey Mountain Park: baseball and softball fields, playgrounds, and picnic areas
- Grain Valley Aquatic Center: a local favorite for summer days
- Lake Jacomo and Fleming Park: boating, trails, and fishing just down the road
Getting around
Interstate 70 runs right through town, which is handy, but it's also the road everyone complains about when construction hits. Blue Springs is right next door.
Schools
Grain Valley is served by the Grain Valley R5 School District. Some homes near the edges of town may fall into neighboring districts, so always check the address.
